Bluebell Railway Photo charter E4 No.32473. A few days before being withdrawn for its 10 year overhaul Birchgrove was paired with two blood & custard coaches and a Bulleid brake along with a couple of short sessions with a small engineers train for a full day charter. The south facing locomotive gave the opportunity for some very nice locomotive workings around Vaux End, the southern end of the West Hoathly tunnel and early morning run passes at Caseford Bridge. At the end of the day we witnessed a good sunset just outside Sheffield Park station. (click on picture to enlarge)
