For once the weather came up
trumps with unseasonably high temperatures being felt over the weekend, (I kept
forgetting it was April).
Saturday allowed us to see two
vintage goods trains and two passenger trains. Stepney and Fenchurch pulling
pre-grouping wagons with the E4, No.32473 on the grouping wagons. During Sunday
the goods train was made up of fourteen wagons and the brake van hauled by U
Class No.1638 which included the recently restored Pipefit open wagon and Queen
Mary brake.
Locomotives in use over the
weekend: No.55 Stepney, No.672 Fenchurch, E4 No.32473, U Class No.1638, West
Country Class No.34023 Eddystone and Standard 4 No.80151.
Vintage road
vehicles where on display at all stations during the weekend with each taking
turns to carry out local collections and deliveries which then rendezvous
with the goods trains at the stations.
