A little about my
site.
I have had a passion for
taking photographs for many years, but it really started in earnest when I
attended Lewes Camera Club during my late twenties. After a few weeks I felt
that maybe I should join in the club activities and show off my amateurish
efforts, for I was never one to shy away from ridicule and humiliation that the
visiting club judges could handout.
Taking photographs of
heritage railways began as a day out at the Bluebell
Railway with my then two year old son, our first of two boys. The picture used
at the top of my Web pages was the first picture I
took of a steam train. On reflection I was taken aback
by the fact that I had a historic
time capsule just a few miles from where I live.
The Bluebell satisfies many of my personal interests, I enjoy history, the
'industrial age' and the
walking in the countryside that comes with
the ownership of a Bluebell line-side
photographic pass.
As I
progressed with this site I have become interested in the local railways
especially the London Brighton & South Coast Railway and Southern
Railways. Viewing local maps it is easy to trace the routes they once took
meandering though the countryside passing villages that once relied on the
railways existence to provide employment, transport and fresh produce. Alas
those bustling days have disappeared leaving behind a wealth of history to enjoy
and savour.
I have had enormous
pleasure taking the photographs
that appear on this website, and I hope you enjoy scrolling through the pages. I
aim to update the pages fairly regularly and add new links to allow you to see
photographs from other areas of interest in my life.
Any news or updates
will be posted on the 'Latest News' page
and if you wish to be updated on changes to the site, please send me an email.
I hope you enjoy your visit and
please come back soon.
